India's Test skipper Shubman Gill, Sai Sudarshan & Yashasvi Jaiswal are set to make a grand return to T20Is after an absence from the shortest format for over a year. The trio will mark their comeback in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025, set to begin from September 09 to 28 in Dubai & Abu Dhabi. The Continental Cup will feature eight teams - India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong.

As per the PTI report, Gill, Jaiswal & Sudarshan are in contention to be picked in the Asia Cup squad, despite swirling rumors that the trio will be rested for the Continental Cup owing to workload issues. Also, with the next Test series set to begin against West Indies just days after the conclusion of the Asia Cup, the selectors thought of resting the Test players. However, according to the latest report, the Ajit Agarkar-led panel wants to keep the options open.

Among the trio, only Sai Sudarshan is the least experienced player, as the southpaw has played one T20I. However, despite that, the selectors are keen to include him in the Asia Cup squad. Speaking about Shubman Gill & Yashasvi Jaiswal, the duo last featured in the shortest format in T20Is. The BCCI is set to announce the preliminary squad for the Continental Cup later this week.

Gill, Jaiswal & Sudarshan's IPL 2025 form might be a clincher for their inclusion in the Asia Cup squad

Gill Jaiswal & Sudarshan had a terrific Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. While Sudarshan went on to win Orange Cap - 850 runs in IPL 2025 season, Gill and Jaiswal scored 650 & 559 runs respectively. Owing to the duo playing Tests regularly for the national side, they were always rested for T20Is. However, with the T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled to begin in less than eight months, the duo needs match practice if they are indeed considered for the global event.

As far as Sudarshan, he is yet a raw player when it comes to T20Is. The southpaw shot into the limelight due to his IPL performances. While Gill and Jaiswal are most likely to be included in the Asia Cup preliminary squad, it remains to be seen if the Tamil Nadu player gets the nod.
