BAN vs ZIM: 22-Year-Old Tanzim Hasan Sakib Earns Maiden Test Call-Up for Zimbabwe Series

Tanzim Hasan Sakib, a right-arm fast medium bowler, has earned his maiden Test call-up after being a regular for Bangladesh in limited-overs matches.

The 22-year-old has played over 28 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 20 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in his career. With Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman being the primary pace bowlers for Bangladesh, Tanzim had not received a call-up until now. However, with Taskin Ahmed sidelined due to injury, Tanzim has been named to the Test team. Reports suggest he will make his debut in the first Test, which is set to start on April 20, 2025.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh will be without wicketkeeper-batter Litton Das, who is committed to playing in the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2025) for Karachi Kings, starting on April 11. The new-look Bangladesh Test setup will also miss players like Hasan Murad, Shoriful Islam, and Shahadat Hossain from the squad.

Although Mushfiqur Rahim announced his retirement from limited-overs cricket following his average performance in the 2025 Champions Trophy, the 37-year-old will continue to play Test cricket in this series against Zimbabwe.
