Major League Cricket 2025 had an all-star legends night in the curtain raiser as the presence of Adam Gilchrist, Curtly Ambrose, and Courtney Walsh lit up the night in California.
Amidst the legendary presence on the opening night of the 3rd season of the marquee tournament in the USA, it was Finn Allen who stole the show with his 151 off 51 balls in the first match against Washington Freedom, playing for San Francisco Unicorns. It was a record day out for Finn Allen, who single-handedly destroyed the bowling of Freedom bowlers and led his team to the highest ever score of 269/5 in the history of the competition.

The Kiwi batter also broke the world record for most sixes in an innings, by surpassing Gayle’s decade-old record of 17 sixes, as Finn Allen added two more to break the record with 19 sixes in the opening match. Riding on the momentum, Unicorns were able to bowl out the Freedom for 143 in 13 overs to kickstart the tournament with an outstanding win.
As Finn Allen burned with high flame, it was Australian legend Adam Gilchrist, West Indies legend Curtly Ambrose, and Courtney Walsh who lit up and prepared the crowd with their presence ahead of the match. The iconic trio were involved in delivering the ceremonial first ball on the newly laid pitch as part of the tradition and gave their special tribute to the game.
