IND vs ENG: 'Prasidh has to go out' - Sunil Gavaskar on how India can accommodate Bumrah for Lord's Test

Summary

For the unversed, Shubman Gill confirmed that the Bumrah will return for the Lord's Test after India comprehensively beat the hosts in 2nd Test

Bumrah to miss second Test match at Edgbaston

Cricketer-turned-expert Sunil Gavaskar has stated that Prasidh Krishna will have to sit out for the third Test in Lord's on Thursday, July 10 to make way for Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI. For the unversed, Indian skipper Shubman Gill confirmed that the premier pacer will return for the Lord's Test after India comprehensively beat the visitors at Edgbaston by a huge margin of 336 runs to level the series 1-1.

Prasidh, who played two Tests has been dismal, to say the least. While he has taken wickets, his economy rate of over 6 runs per over has not helped the cause. The lanky pacer comparatively performed well in the second Test, but Gavaskar still reckons that Prasidh should make way for Bumrah.

Sunil Gavaskar explains why Prasidh Krishna should be dropped

“I think it’s clear. Prasidh Krishna has to go out because, in the first innings, he was a bit expensive. Even in Leeds, although he got a few wickets, he really didn’t look like he was going to break through," Gavaskar said on Sports Tak.

“With Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj, you’ve seen the number of top-class deliveries that they’ve bowled. And they might not have gotten wickets – the batters played and missed, and the ball rapped them on the pads. It has to be Prasidh because his length wasn’t quite right. I believe he will make way for Bumrah,” he added.
