Pratika Rawal continued her rich vein of form as the batter slammed her fifth fifty in just her eighth ODI to take India to a competitive total of 276 runs for six wickets against South Africa in the second match of the ongoing Tri-Nation Series in Colombo. The right-hand batter laid a perfect foundation with a classy 78 runs and allowed skipper Harmanpreet Kaur's unbeaten 41 runs to finish India's innings well in the death overs.
Choosing to bat first, Rawal and Smriti Mandhana (36 runs) put on an 83-run stand for the first wicket. However, just when the latter was looking set for a big score, she perished in the 19th over. Mandhana's wicket got the Proteas back into the contest, as from there on, their bowlers kept chipping in with useful wickets. Harleen Deol (29 runs) and Jemimah Rodrigues (41 runs) got off to decent starts but failed to kick on.

Harmanpreet Kaur's late blitz allowed India to eventually get past 270 runs at the end of their 50 overs. For South Africa, Nadine de Klerk was the pick of the bowlers, as she took one wicket and conceded runs below five runs per over. Off-spinner Mlabla also chipped in with two wickets.

Advantage India as they post a strong total on spin-friendly Colombo surface
Heading into the lunch break, India would be more satisfied than the visitors, as they have managed to get past 270 runs. With the pitch at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo expected to slow down in the second innings, India spinners Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana are expected to bowl well.
