IPL 2025: BCCI likely to have meeting today on resumption of IPL

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to hold a meeting on Monday, May 12, to discuss a possible date for the restart of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. The T20 league was suspended on May 09 as the BCCI, along with the IPL governing council, stood by the nation and armed forces in 'Operation Sindoor.'

The tensions escalated between India and Pakistan after the former's precision strikes in the latter and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). However, with both nations agreeing on a ceasefire, the situation is under control. Earlier, the majority of the foreign players also left, as they were in a lot of tension about the safety in India. However, the BCCI has conveyed to all 10 franchises to keep the players on standby.

BCCI to prepare different schedules

Also, the BCCI has prepared different schedules with all venues and reduced venue schedules for the remainder of the 17 matches left in IPL 2025. Also, earlier, the IPL Governing Council stated that the Punjab Kings vs Delhi Capitals match on May 08 in Dharamshala will be played from ball one. The restart of IPL 2025 will likely happen from this match itself, as only 10 overs were possible. The game was called off due to raid alerts in the nearby districts of Dharamshala. Apart from this game, still, 16 matches are still set to play out in the ongoing IPL season.

Most likely, BCCI will conduct the remainder of the matches at only limited venues. Talks are going on that, most likely, the matches won't happen in Delhi and Dharamshala.

IPL 2025 restart is likely to happen after Indian Government's permission

Notably, the BCCI & IPL Governing Council will seek the Indian Government's approval for the finalization of the IPL 2025 restart. The likely start date is expected to be May 16 or 17, with the final set to take place on June 01.
