Rajasthan Royals (RR) pacer Jofra Archer was breathing fire, but luck deserted him as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) openers Virat Kohli and Phil Salt negated the early threat of Archer well in the match 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) season. RCB raced to 50 runs inside the power play without losing any wickets. The English pacer bowled in excess of 145 Kmph and made Sunil Gavaskar go wow. However, Kohli assessed the Bengaluru pitch well and enabled RCB to get to a rollicking start for the first time playing at home this season.
Salt also rode on a little bit of luck along the way, as he was dropped for just (1) one run by RR skipper Riyan Parag. How costly it will prove to be only time will tell. It is to be noted that while Archer bowled well, Farooqi leaked runs from the other end, as he gave 16 runs in his two overs. Tushar Deshpande was also erratic in his first over, as he conceded 14 runs. Overall, the first six overs belong to Salt and Kohli, as both have played positively and were geared up to get the team off to a good start.
The duo have laid the perfect foundation, and now it is up to the rest of the RCB batters to cash in on this blazing start. Rajat Patidar, Tim David, and Jitesh Sharma are in-form RCB batters yet to come in the middle order.

Salt fails to cash in on missed chance as RR strikes first blow
Salt, for the large part of his innings, struggled for timing. It was Virat Kohli who looked a lot more assured at the crease. Salt's struggles were put to an end by Hasaranga, as he was dismissed for (23) runs. However, Kohli has got to a start, and the onus will be on him to anchor the innings. At the half way stage, RCB are 83 for the loss of just one wicket.
