Mumbai Indians (MI) annihilated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a one-sided contest, winning the 50th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on May 1 by 100 runs.
Chasing 218 runs, RR’s innings unraveled under pressure from MI’s relentless bowling. Teenage prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi (0 run off 2 balls), coming off a record-breaking century against Gujarat Titans (GT), was expected to replicate his heroics, however, Deepak Chahar dismissed him early in the first over of the innings.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (13 runs off 6 balls) went back to the dressing room in the second over after smashing two sixes as Trent Boult cleaned him up in the second over.

Wickets continued to tumble. Boult bagged his second scalp of the match, putting the wicket of Nitish Rana (9 runs off 11 balls) in his pocket.Â
Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets in an over, showing the exit door to Riyan Parag (16 runs off 8 balls) and Shimron Hetmyer (0 run off 1 ball).
By the 10th over, RR had lost seven wickets with Shubham Dubey (15 runs off 9 balls) and Dhruv Jurel (11 runs off 11 balls) also perishing at the hands of Hardik Pandya and Karn Sharma respectively.
At the 10-over mark, RR’s score read 82/7 as they teetered on the brink of defeat in a must-win game to keep their playoff hopes alive.Â
With seven wickets gone, RR’s hopes rested on their lower order to reduce the margin of defeat. But they were unsuccessful as Karn ran through them, dismissing both Maheesh Theekshana (2 runs off 9 balls) and Kumar Kartikeya (2 runs off 4 balls) in the 12th over.Â
Jofra Archer (30 runs off 27 balls) smashed a few boundaries, giving the RR fans something to celebrate. He formed a 26-run stand for the final wicket with Akash Madhwal (4* runs off 9 balls), the highest of the innings.
Ultimately, Boult got the better of Archer in the 17th over as MI bowled out RR for 117 runs, winning their sixth match on the trot by 100 runs.
Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians posted a commanding total of 217 runs in their 20 overs after being put to bat. The innings was anchored by explosive performances from openers Rohit Sharma (53 runs off 36 balls) and Ryan Rickelton (61 runs off 38 balls), who forged a 116-run partnership to set a solid foundation.Â

Suryakumar Yadav (48* runs off 23 balls) and Pandya (48* runs of 23 balls) then took charge, propelling MI to 217 runs in their 20 overs.
With this victory, Mumbai Indians moved to the top of the IPL 2025 points table, while Rajasthan Royals stayed at the eighth position.
