Moeen Ali Praises KL Rahul’s Impact Despite Shubman Gill’s Top Scoring
Moeen Ali, speaking on the Beard Before Wicket Podcast, stressed that fans don’t fully realise KL Rahul’s impact as an opener.
“I think people don’t realise how good he is. I mean, someone like KL Rahul in particular, opening the batting. He was brilliant last series in England and he has been brilliant again this series,” Moeen said.
Meanwhile, Moeen Ali pointed out that despite Shubman being the highest scorer in this series, it was KL Rahul who impressed him the most.
“I think Shubman scored the most runs and was outstanding, with brilliant technique, but I thought KL’s role within the side was probably the best I have seen him play over the years. He is such a good player, and I genuinely believe he’s one of the best players in the world, and I’ve said that for a while,” Moeen added.

Adil Rashid Highlights KL Rahul’s Mastery and Technique as Opener
Adil Rashid, echoing Moeen Ali’s point, highlighted that KL Rahul embodies the art of batting in Test cricket. Returning as an opener in this series, KL Rahul showcased his best form, helping India at the top.
“He goes under the radar. This series, the way he has batted his tempo, his technique, you know, the art of batting in Test cricket. Going forward, going back, there is a lot of that in his game. His defence was tight, and he drove half volleys beautifully. That was his game in order,” Rashid said.
