Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard, who announced his retirement from the IPL two years ago, continues to play in other leagues. In the CPL 2025, representing the Trinbago Knight Riders, Pollard turned back the clock and went full beast mode, smashing 7 sixes in just 8 balls to light up the tournament.
Pollard had a slow and struggling start, scoring just 12 runs off his first 13 balls. However, the momentum shifted dramatically in the 15th over when he took on spinner Navin Bidiaseem, smashing 3 sixes in 4 balls to begin the onslaught.

Next came Waqar Salamkheil the best bowler for the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots but even he couldn’t escape. Pollard hammered him for four consecutive sixes, reaching his fifty in sensational style. He ended his innings with 65 runs off 29 balls, as Trinbago Knight Riders secured a 12-run win to stay at the top of the CPL 2025 points table.

Pollard was named Player of the Match for his explosive knock. Speaking after the game, he reflected on his preparation and experience:
“I have been here 20 years or more, so I won’t call this the form of my life. I wanted to give the fans and my family something to celebrate. I play each ball on its merit — cricket is often a game of chess. You don’t get these games overnight; I’ve messed up many such games in the past, but you learn from experience. For me, preparation is more mental in terms of the processes to be followed.”
Pollard’s power-packed innings didn’t go unnoticed by Mumbai Indians fans, who quickly took to social media to express one common sentiment — he retired too early. Many felt he still had at least two good IPL seasons left in him.
Since winning their last title in 2020, Mumbai Indians have only made it to the playoffs twice. Pollard took up the role of batting coach in 2023, but despite signing several established big-hitters, MI have struggled to find a true replacement for their long-time finisher.
Now, with Pollard lighting up the CPL, fans are calling for a comeback — just like Lasith Malinga once did — hoping he could help guide Mumbai Indians to a 6th IPL title.
